Happy New Year! We did it!! We made it through 2020. Though the pandemic isn’t over yet, hopefully the worst is behind us. 2021 brings a lot of hope for many of us. Hope to see our friends and family again, hope to adjust to a new life for those of us who felt the full weight of the pandemic personally. Hope that someday soon, life will go back to something that resembles normal.

While the year may be different, everyone is setting their goals for 2021. CEEK wants to remind you on how to create clear and attainable goals. These goals can be personal, financial, educational, fitness/health related, or professional, among others.

Goal setting should start with an evaluation or a vision for your life and what you would like to do and accomplish. Research has shown that you are much more likely to accomplish your goals if you write them down. Always write your goals in the positive and be detailed about what you want to accomplish and how. Your goals should be “SMART” (term attributed to Peter Drucker’s “Management by Objectives” concept):

S – Specific (what, why, who, where)

M – Measurable

A – Achievable/Attainable

R – Realistic

T – Time Based (when, 1 month, 6 months, 1 year)

Using the SMART tool will help you develop a plan and the motivation to achieve your goals. It is also helpful to share your goal(s) with people who you know will help you and keep you accountable. Once your goals are set, you should review them on a regular basis in order to stay on track or modify if needed.

CEEK Wellness Challenge of the Month

We challenge you this month to set some “SMART” goals for mental, physical and spiritual wellness for 2021. Write them down, keep track of them throughout the year and…CEEK a Better Way!
