This week, we’re highlighting CEEK’s newest team member and Social Energizer, Maggie Cumby. You’ll be seeing more from Maggie on the blog and in our social media presence in the coming weeks. For now: Meet Maggie!
Can you tell us about what it means to be CEEK’s Social Energizer?
Throughout my education, I learned to use my energy as a catalyst to raise others up around me. Starting at CEEK, I was nervous that my energy might not be welcomed in the professional world but found the opposite. CEEK has taught me to continue to embrace this as a strength and I am grateful to be a part of a team that allows me to incorporate it into my work. As Social Energizer, I’m using my communications background to help the CEEK Team develop their social media presence. I am also learning to use my energy in facilitations to help other people channel their own energy into their passions.
How did you get into the field?
I have a passion for open and deep conversations with people. This passion pushed me to study around the world, which ultimately led me to get my Master’s in Conflict Resolution and Mediation from Tel Aviv University. I was introduced to facilitation and mediation and knew that this field is what I’m good at and I plan on developing my skills to help people embrace the life they desire.
What are you working on now?
As a young professional new to the working world, I am grateful for the opportunity that CEEK gives me. The organization encourages all its members to grow in the direction they choose. At the moment, I am enjoying working with clients on developing their training programs. In the future, I plan to lead my own trainings and facilitations.
So what’s next for you then?
My immediate plan is to absorb as much knowledge and expertise from my team members as possible. I hope that through supporting CEEK I will get a better understanding of my strengths and weaknesses to move forward with my passion: becoming a facilitator.
Any final words for readers?
Change is not always easy, but if you can adopt the right mentality, it can be fun. I am always looking forward to the future by enjoying my present. It’s a difficult mentality to adopt, it takes time and intention but that’s all life is, right? A little time and a lot of intentions.
